Update in Tunaville

Ah, Buenos Dias. Sleeping in until 11 can be nice, when I don't guilt trip myself over it. Last night, we went walking around our neighborhood popping in here and there. We have a few new places getting ready to open in Point Loma. Harborside Pub is opening where the new Roseville was. I think it was Giacilone's was before that.
I recall it being ran by the family, or a cousin of, of the family who runs Tio Leo's and/or the Venetian. The lady at the Wine Pub told us, that Roseville & the building owner had a stand off over sewer problems. Landlord would not fix it and tenant wouldn't pay rent. It looks to be getting fixed now, there are bulldozers and piles of dirt outside.

The new pub that took the place of La Scala had me both excited and sad. La Scala is a super old Italian restaurant ran by the old family. A couple at Sail Ho told once that it was a strip bar. Not surprising. The Lighthouse pub went in, and we went during the remodel and chatted with the owner. Our guess was Brazilian or Spanish, with this heavy accent. To my untrained ears, I can't tell if they speak Spanish or Portuguese by them listening to them speak English... YET. A few weeks ago, we popped in for a drink. The bartender was less than friendly, as if we interrupted her closing the place, and it was only 9:30-10ish, because we are old. But I was super miffed.! I WANT to like the new establishments. Besides, she can only be as new at the place itself, how can she be grouchy already??

Picked up a menu as they were closing at Suppanee House of Thai. It just opened at the intersection of Scott & Shelter Island Drive, they have drunken noodles & drunken rice, we are so there!

Point Loma Seafood is going strong, despite the demolishing of the original building :) They put up temporary restaurant a few months ago, while they are rebuilding, and the line is still about out the door. I am excited to see new design.

Mitch's still holds a spot as our favorite hang out in Point Loma.

In NTC news (Liberty Station for new kids) PL Sports Pub went under, an double fisting afro-rocking employee told us, on their vacate day, that it was another case of the owner not payingrent for 6 months. Welp, that will get you evicted, right? Employee were trying to drink the bar up before being escorted from premises. :)
Slaters 50/50 is slated to go in sometime in the near future. I have high expectations of this place, first their menu seems to revolve around bacon, and in my head, I will think its Christian Slater's joint.
Oh why not?
Stone Brewery is also going in. I am not thrill with that, more of "whatev". :)
NTC has so many more places to fill up, it is super exciting to watch!

In big "YAY" for Point Loma itself, Blockbuster, both of them went under. Good Riddance, I say. Go to the NEW and IMPROVED Blow Out video for all your rental needs. Independent owner, a gazillion titles, genuine nice and a little odd (my fave) employees and SUPER CHEAP prices. Located directly behind Taco Bell on Midway. I swear, we pick up 5 or more movies and our total is NEVER over $10, rarely over 6$. They have a huge selection of TV shows, including the AFTER SCHOOL SPECIALS!!! Oh, I cannot wait to watch those with Shea! hahahah!

Simple Computer Repair is not on Midway anymore, that that is a bummer. A new IT place went in by my house, on Rosecrans and Olyphant. I haven't been over to meet the new guy yet.

Oh, The Sweetheart City............

FB peeps have started a "Remember when" page about Loveland, and it is tickling my fancy to read these posts. Often, I forget about the quirks of the town, the small town had many unique offers when I was young. It was a great place to live, pre-puberty. I'll give it that.

Also, Doug Crowl, a boy who was a band mate, friend, and if memory serves a partner in Jr. High kissing antics... had made a good point, he mentioned it being ok living downtown. Ok, Dougie, I'll give you that. I still enjoy downtown, its the first place I venture to, when I return home.

Another point mentioned was that like the snobby kids went to Con Ball and the freaks went to Bill Reed, I guess that was why I didn't' fit in at Con Ball, and should have remained on my Bill Reed path :)

The Calandar Page Has Turned

For my good intention to keep track of everything we did while Clea was here, I totally lost track! Now I look at the calendar and the page is changed. Now, its back to school time for me. Shea will prolly do a few camps before she starts Dana, and we only have a few other things planned. Shea is walking in a fashion show by a local designer, for a charity. Next weekend, we are planning a camping trip to La Jolla Indian Reservation. We are super excited about it!

Otherwise, August is my least favorite month. I'd be happy to sleep thru it!
