Summer Vacation ~ Day Two UCSD

Today was the hunt for the singing tree and the Bear at UCSD, or as I call it, a tour of a major university!

Summer Vacation ~ Day One

What is fantastic about Clea being out for longer than a week, is we can actually slow down my usual break-neck speed of doing all sorts of activities! We started off our first girls only day with a leisure trip to Balboa Park. We rode the tram to the Timken, where I love the old Eastern Orthodox paintings! Amazing.....

We then cruised over to the Botanical Gardens, and then over to the Science Center.
For the line being a good 50 feet long, they offer you ice water and a guy walks around with a mister, it is worth it.

On the way to OB, we saw this HUGE fire from the 5, around the Volare are, and we thought Volare was on fire!!! However, we drove over, and it was a Latino church behind Squidco.

Lunch at the BBQ House and headed to the library, where we got Clea her own card!

We spent the 4th in Old Town, acting like tourist, eating at Rockin' Baja Lobster. It was great to sit around the pool & hot tub and be able to see 4-5 sets of fireworks!

We found Clea Bean's doppleganger, she was dressed to a T, like Clea!

And Clea was all like WHAAA?

And Mikee & Shea were like WEEE!

And Shea & Clea were like ARGH!

And Mike was like WOOT!

And Juan Snook was like HRMPH!

And Meg was like YEAAAH

And Addy's all HEY TOO SMALL GUYS!

Mikee's Birthday Dinner

Sunday night, we all met up at Volare, Mike & my's favorite Italian eatery, for a impromptu birthday celebration! It was nice to have everyone together for ugly shirt gifts and good food. His best gift tho, was his mom and sister made him a photo album of childhood pics. :) Bryan & Crystal got him the best outfit! Pink shirt & purple pants!

July 2nd : Day @ Kellogg Beach err Nichols Beach

I slept for squat Friday night, and rose early Sunday morning. Anxiety getting my goat. Lucky tho, the family was up early too! Mary, Megan, Addy & I went on a nice long walk around Mission Beach. Again, sometimes I forget to take those beautiful walks. We joined up with everyone else at the swap meet. Why we go there? I have no idea. I would like to pick up another set up reasonably priced luggage. :)

We spent out afternoon down at Nichols beach. Its perfect down there for the out of state swimmers, with lack of waves and great visibility. I lost Shea at the beach in OB the last day of school, and almost had a panic attack!

The afternoon, brought in Clea Bean on her first DEN SAN solo trip. I was so happy to see her! I think she grew since March! She liked the new addition too!

Saturday brought in Ma Nichols, Aunt Megan and baby Addy. We spent the day hanging out and catching up. Mikee took to his new niece like white on rice :)

At Paradise Point we checked out some sharks and other fish, and a wedding reception, of course.

Played a little croquet!

Rode those one things!

Chased some ducks..

And then we were tired :)

July First @ Mitch's

Shea was lucky enough today, her buddy called to ask her if she wanted to go to the Del Mar fair. Some years, in my book, you just gotta let the fair go by and take no notice! Perhaps, next year I'll go. :) It was great that Shea got to head up.

Mikee and I had our usual, split a burger and a shrimp cocktail at Mitch's! MMM! Mikee's brother and his family were on their way out from PHX and we were hoping to catch them Friday night but by the time they got in, it was too late. We did however, return to Mitch's that next morning with them! Oh, how we love Mitch's.

Speaking of, I told Carly Ann, the girl that works there, I'd burn her some old Black Keys albums. Hrm, perhaps, I'll do a mash up, and call it the Black Eyed Keys... :)
The cover would have the Black Keys with black eyes...
