Well Done, Just Another Car Crash

We were driving back yesterday, headed westerly on Lytton/Barnett and around the corner of the entrance to NTC, to find what was left of a pretty back car crash.
We found out from our friends at Sail Ho, that a woman driver and 3 passengers, came across the turn at 4am, and went into golf course parking lot, and pushed their shed off its foundation. However, they were so lucky, the car skidded right between to wooden power poles, and nearly missed a concrete garbage container. The Sail Ho ladies said that they 4 left the car a bloody mess and were no where to be found that next morning. However, she did call, and say that she did that, and asked if they'd like her insurance info.....

Happy Fathers Day , Thanks for Nothing

Dad #1, Thanks for Nothing

My biological dad left me memories of stalking and harassment. Or at least, at 4 years old that was the impression I was left with. Regardless, after a mother and daughter were sent on a state to state flee, he was 100% gone by 1978. I was left with nothing of that. My mother could or would not explain anything to me, the facts I'm left with are that he has a full beard by the age of 14, knocked up my mother when they lived on Colfax, and his father was a jeweler and his mother's name was Mary, and were from Cincinnati. Gee, thanks for all that.

Dad #2, Thanks for making it worse,

My step dad came into the picture when I was 4. He and his brother were in and out of prison when I was very young. Of course, no one spoke of it, as if it never happened. When they finally got "their household" in order, he kept jobs for the uneducated and my mother stayed employed as a waitress. The days growing up, were nothing but a daily party fest for them. If I were to go thru this stack of pictures when I was growing up, it would be hard to NOT find beer cans and trays of pot in in them. I thought it was normal. The older I get the more angry I get.

My "dad" did little to prepare me for the future of success. I inherited a tolerance for booze and a disrespect for society. I was doomed.

When I was 21 or 22 or so, he was arrested for something so bad, I can't even mention it here, and I am not even going to get into that know. He went to back to prison, for 8 years, and it was just another thing that we didn't talk about.

With that, Happy Father's Days, you two fucking failures.

2 More Hours To Go

And Shea is done! We can start our summer! However, I'm pretty sure she doesn't know what is in stall for her. A giant list of stuff to learn! Her promotion couldn't have been better. Yes, I guess it could have if her dad could keep his mouth shut with the running commentary during the commencement, but alas, Shea have a speech that was only given to her that morning, and she nailed it.

I was happy that Uncle Pat and Aunt Maddy came to make her day even better! Afterwards we took her to "wherever she wanted to go" for lunch, and she choose Dennys. :( But, we went. Mikee gave her his netbook, and the look on her face when she opened it was priceless. But with this comes so much responsibility, we have been mulling it over for a while now, and welp... the kid has had her own cell phone since Christmas and she has not lost it, misused it, abused it or pissed me off with it. That little phone is in pristine condition. So, we will see how the computer goes.

We only got a few weeks to go, until everyone gets here! Clea gets her the 3rd, Mike's mom, Megan and Addy the 3nd and Bryan, Crystal & the boys on the 1st! We are so looking forward to the big weekend!

Then the big month with the Bean here! So much fun!

damn YOU may grey~!

More Sweet Than Bitter, Bitter Than Sweet

I keep using the word "bittersweet" to explain these past few weeks. Shea is leaving OBE. It seems just like yesterday, I was wrestling with the choice where to send her.
And in only 3 days, she will do her little parade through the auditorium and call it an era. I attended my last OBE PTA meeting last night. Not for any reason, but to just go one last time. For the great time time has had there, for all the amazing teachers, this kid is mentally ready for her next challenge. To which I am so glad it isn't the other way around, and I was having to drag her kicking and screaming. :)
She has started her 5th grade books at the academy, and I think she will have a good head start come this fall. The Bean told me how bored she was the other day, and it got me to thinking about what we were doing back home in the summer. Lets.. see.. I was laying around watching TV, sure I'd go and play, but I also remember alot of "its too hot to go outside!" as well. I really wasn't' too engaged, hell, Mom was still pulling her 40 hour work week, I was just learning to cook on my own.

This will be the last summer, that I get so spend with the kids and I'm very excited to make it a lot of fun!

94.9 Indie Jam in the O-Side

Somehow, I always think Oceanside is a full hour away, really its not, when the traffic Gods are on your side! We checked into a really shitty motel, kicked it by the pool, ate lunch at a really shitty pub on the main drag, then headed to the pier in the early afternoon. I was surprised it wasn't more like Street Scene, but it was still fun.

I think the Crocodiles played my favorite set!

And I have no idea what homie is doing here...

The drive home, we stopped in Carlsbad, which comes from the German Karlsbadd, I read, at Tip Top European meats.. A German themed deli, it was really cool and we need to go back again soon!
