Last nights practice was Loni coaching and Navy Chief Shannon "I'rish You'd Crash" and Navy Helicopter Mechanic Steve "Scissors Me Timber" and it was all hitting and positional blocking.
When I wasn't lost in the Navy acronym talk I was getting knocked around, pushed and shoved.
Loni has always scared the shit out of me. I know she works with Navy Seals and is deployed often and is getting ready to go to Iraq. She is built like the proverbial shit house and is obviously sleeved with hula dancers on her calves. The "take no shit" vibe is strong, and when I got to boot camp and put the 2 together "Hitting + Loni" I was shit scared.
I made it thru, and was even taking hits off the banked, but I didn't fall and I didn't get hurt, and I feel a bit stronger today.
Often, the more intimidating the person is, the sweeter it is when you get to know them and discover they are sweet and all you want to do is give them hugs. :)

You Left a Note in Your Perfect Script
Dating for twenty years just feels pretty civilian
I’ve never thought that
Ever thought that once in my whole life
You are my first time
I’ve never thought that
Ever thought that once in my whole life
You are my first time
People are boring
But you’re something else completely
Damn let’s take our chances
But you’re something else completely
Damn let’s take our chances

Guys & Dolls
Ohhh! I am so happy Guys & Dolls is back! Its always a great treat to have guest skaters scrimmage!
We had guest from as far has Australia! Including one 8 foot man named Thor. Ok, maybe 7 feet, but his name was Thor. He hit really soft, and it gave me warm fuzzies.

The Vivian Girls, Darger, D3 & Me
D3 and I went to see a documentary about Henry Darger. After hearing The Vivian Girls on the radio, I looked up where the name came from, thinking it was like those women who worked in the chain of hotels at train stops back in the day.. but no, just a bit farking weirder.
I sprung the invite on the BF at the last minute and quickly agreed, of course not surprising me at all that he knew of this man, because, hell... what doesn't he know about...
The documentary was so interesting, and the Mingei always has interesting exhibits and he got us passes for the rest of the summer. :)

Level 3 You Bastard
I hit my 27 last month. However, then there was goddamn hiatus, to which I did nothing but eat and drink and well.. other stuff that is no conducive to time trials. all my own fault.
Practice is hit & miss late with level 3 skills. I don't think we've done a serious hitting gauntlet since Soko was here. She broke he arm in May I think. :(
With that, I still need LOTS of work with the positional blocking and times trials are back to 26.5/5.
But I'll take that and think back to the day when my back seized at 10 laps and my lungs froze up.
Slowly but surly.
Yes, surly.
On a high note, Tsunami invited me to practice with league on Tuesday, and um. hello, backwards paceline? (wtf!) I hung for a bit, but had to leave early to make it to the library.
We're trying to watch every Bill Murray movie, chronologically. *watch* heh heh. <3 p="">
Also, today I had an "AHA! moment! I heard Lucille on the radio, and realized that where
her blog title coems from! www.elektraqtion.blogspot.com Good call!!!

Every Other Thai-Day
Every other Friday, I get a special treat of having a Thai lunch with a wonderful man.
And he gets me to try things I normally wouldn't go near, and that really makes my day!

Rock Me On The Water
Rock me on the water
Sister will you soothe my fevered brow
Rock me on the water, maybe I'll remember
Maybe I'll remember how
Rock me on the water
The wind is with me now
So rock me on the water
I'll get down to the sea somehow
Sister will you soothe my fevered brow
Rock me on the water, maybe I'll remember
Maybe I'll remember how
Rock me on the water
The wind is with me now
So rock me on the water
I'll get down to the sea somehow
